Quelet reaction

The Quelet Reaction is an organic reaction that consists in the transformation of a solution in ligation of a phenolic ether and an aliphatic aldehyde passing of dry hydrochloric acid in the presence or absence of a catalyst in anhydrous conditions to yield α-chloroalkyl substitutive derivatives on the para position to the alkoxy group or in the ortho position in the case of para-substituted phenolic ethers:
